Forest Grove Pediatric Dentist

Finding the right dental home for your child takes more than a quick Google search. Parents in Forest Grove want a practice where their little one feels genuinely welcome from the moment they walk through the door, not a place rushing through appointments or treats every child the same. When your child’s smile is on the line, the environment, the team, and the care philosophy matter just as much as the clinical treatment itself.

At Pine Tree Pediatric Dentistry, we make it our mission to give every child in the Forest Grove area a dental experience they can feel good about. Led by Dr. Tesha Waggoner, our Beaverton office is just a short drive from Forest Grove via Highway 26, making it easy to get your child the care they need without going far out of your way. From toddlers getting their first checkup to school-age children managing cavities and more, we are here to support your family with compassionate, individualized care.

What to Expect at Your Child's Appointment

We know the anticipation of a dental visit can sometimes feel bigger than the visit itself, and that is especially true for young patients. From the moment your family arrives, our goal is to create an atmosphere that feels warm, calm, and completely approachable. Our team takes the time to explain every step of the appointment in language kids can understand, and our office has been thoughtfully designed with children in mind.

Before your child sits in the chair, we encourage families to browse our first visit page so you know exactly what to expect. For children who feel anxious, we offer a social stories video providing a visual walkthrough of the office, helping them feel oriented and at ease before they arrive. Our in-office dog, Meyers, is also on hand in the mornings to greet young patients and bring a little extra comfort to the day.

Pediatric Dental Services for Forest Grove Families

We offer a full range of preventive and restorative dental services designed to meet children at every stage of development. Whether your child is due for a routine cleaning or needs a more involved procedure, our team approaches every visit with patience and attention to detail. Here is a look at some of the services available to families traveling from the Forest Grove area:

  • Preventive care: Routine exams, cleanings, fluoride treatments, and dental sealants to protect your child’s teeth from decay before it starts
  • Restorative treatment: When cavities develop, we offer cavity treatment, including composite fillings and dental crowns, to restore your child’s smile
  • Early orthodontic intervention: We monitor your child’s bite and jaw development and offer early orthodontic intervention when appropriate
  • Sedation options: For children who need additional support, we offer nitrous oxide and, when necessary, general anesthesia with hospital privileges at Providence St. Vincent’s
  • Sensory accommodations: Weighted blankets, adjustable lighting, and a low-stimulation environment are available to help children who benefit from extra comfort

Every child’s needs are different, and we tailor our approach accordingly from one visit to the next.

A Practice Built for Children of All Abilities

We take pride in being a practice where all children feel they belong, and we have invested deeply in creating an environment to support that. Our team is trained and practiced at working with children who need more time, a quieter setting, or additional comfort measures during their appointments.

Sensory-Friendly Tools and Techniques

We use Mr. Dragon, our educational puppet, to demonstrate toothbrushing in a fun and engaging way. For children who are resistant to toothpaste, we offer toothpaste tasting so they can find a flavor they like from grocery store brands they will actually use at home. Small details like these make a meaningful difference in how children feel about their dental visits over time.

Coordinated Care for Children with Unique Needs

For families with children who have specific developmental or medical needs, our team works closely with occupational therapists and myofunctional therapists to provide coordinated support. We believe dental treatment works best when it is part of a bigger picture of your child’s overall health. Our patient resources page has additional information to help you prepare for your visit.

Insurance and New Patient Information

We want every Forest Grove family to be able to access the care their child needs without added stress around insurance. We are proudly in-network with Delta Dental Premier and accept Oregon Health Plan (OHP) Medicaid, as well as CareOregon plans. Our front office team is happy to walk you through your benefits and help you understand coverage before your appointment.

You can get a head start by completing our new patient forms online ahead of time, which helps us make the most of your child’s appointment from day one. Our patient resources section also includes helpful information for parents who want to come prepared.
